Bank On Marion can help you open a checking or savings account even if you’ve had difficulties in the past with financial habits. Through this program, you have the opportunity to receive an introduction to positive banking habits from 9 Marion-based non-profits. Members of the Bank On Marion program are here to help you create a good relationship with whatever financial institution you choose.
Why should you have an account?
1) It saves you money- Using checking cashing services may seem more convenient, but the costs add up quickly! When you use a banking account for access to your money with a low- or no-monthly fee, you can use checks, money orders, and check cashing services for much cheaper.
2) It’s Safe- By using a checking or savings account through an insured financial institution, your money is safe from any natural disasters or criminal activity. You will no longer have to worry about hiding or storing your money away.
3) It’s convenient- Many financial institutions use online banking services, which can be an easy way to check on your balances and pay bills. There are also direct depositing options from your employer to your designated account. No more paperwork! And the staff of your bank or Credit Union is available to answer questions about your account when you need them.
4) It helps you save for the future- Without a bank account, it becomes more challenging to save for the future to improve your economic standing. Studies show that individuals with accounts are more likely to save and move up the economic ladder to financial security. You can even designate a certain amount of money to be transferred to your savings account on a certain day of the month to further encourage savings.
